No Longer Exist, and For Good Reason a quick talk about the former Boon Island Ales in Wells, Maine

Rounding out the day with a bad experience I had several years ago at Boon Island Ales in Wells, Maine. I won’t be writing bad reviews often, but this one set the tone for me as to what I now expect from my adventures. Now this brewery had been around for a while by the time I got around to giving it a try. They had moved to a larger location close to the Ogunquit town line and opened a restaurant part of their operation. We finally picked a time when we could take my mother out to dinner there, the hours they were open was strange. Open some days only for dinner other day for only lunch, then sometimes they would be advertising they were open but they were closed for whatever reason. Once we walked in, the decor was nice, nautical themed as implied by the name. Logo on the glasses were neat, but that was were it ended. Customer service was terrible. The manager or owner (not sure which) was drinking and got drunk behind the bar and was really loud. The food took forever to get out and was terrible, they also messed up our order. The beer wasn’t even a saving grace for this place, just a bland selection of a lager, a brown, IPA, and stout. Nothing stood out at all. It’s really too bad that the experience was so bad. They soon went out of business and they have been permanently closed for a few years now and I believe a new restaurant has taken it’s place. It could have had a lot of success in the prime location on Route 1 in Wells, especially in the summer. But this serves as a good example of what makes for a bad adventure in my opinion. I kept the glass I bought from that night because it was the only thing I liked about that adventure(Pic below). They can’t all be good I guess, but still give a place a try, maybe you will like it.  So get out there have an adventure and try new things.  Please drink responsibly.
