I want to share my thoughts today on Foulmouthed Brewing in South Portland, Maine. Like most of my ventures, it started by trying to find a place to eat, grab a beer, and sit. So, Google of course led us to several option in the Greater Portland Area, but we choose to swing into Foulmouthed. Glad we did! I have been there a few times and continue to be impressed by them.
The first time we went there it was in winter, it was snowing naturally. Parking was hard to find that time of the year in the cities anyway, but we managed. We walked in and at first glance, there were no open seats, and they had only been open about 20 mins at that point. One of the bar tenders was able to clear a seat for us right by the door. The dining and seating area isn’t very big to begin with, but it certainly made for an interesting atmosphere. I ordered my flight and we decided on our burgers.
My flight came out first. I tried the first beer which was the Yuzu Koshō Gose. Now, I have been skeptical about anything that has “Yuzu” in it since I tried the one from Samuel Adams, and found it was quickly one of the worse beers I had ever had (story for another day I suppose). However, I was pleasantly surprised by this one. The beers offered by them that I have tried have stayed pretty good since that first sip, let’s just say I haven’t been disappointed yet.
So, while waiting for the food and while I was sampling the beer, I took in the atmosphere. Although it was crowded, it wasn’t crazy. People were nice or just kept to themselves. The vibes from the décor was an interesting clash between what reminded me of a subway station, or a tunnel mixed with an old auto garage/gas station from the 1950s. Plus, everything had a “foulmouthed” theme, but all in good fun. So, its an interesting atmosphere to say the least.
The food was quick, I got a Brunch Burger, basically a cheeseburger with a fried egg on it. It was amazing! One of the best burgers I have ever eaten! Since we did not want to leave, my daughter decided to order dessert, which was fresh out of the oven chocolate chip cookies, they too were nothing short of amazing! So these guys know good food and good beer!
The next couple times I have gone, I had already eaten, so I only had beers. Like I said before, I have not been disappointed yet with any of their beers. Staff has always been great, friendly and prompt. Even when it was busy.
Simply put, Foulmouthed Brewing is an awesome place to go. If you are up in the Portland, Maine area, Remember, go have an adventure and try new things!! Please Drink Responsibly. I have provided the address and contact information I got from Google below, as well as the list of beers I tried while I was there, enjoy!
