Review of Weeping Radish Farm Brewery Grandy, North Carolina

For the next review I am going to talk about the Weeping Radish Farm Brewery in Grandy, North Carolina.  This brewery is located on the main road leading into the Outer Banks from Virginia.  They advertise that they are the oldest microbrewery brewery in North Carolina, Originally opening their doors in 1986 in Manteo, North Carolina.  They proudly brew their beers to the standards of the Bavarian Reinheitsgebot Purity Law of 1516 because the owner is from Bavaria.  Now their operation includes the brewery, farm, butchery, and the pub itself!

When you first pull into the parking lot you can see the surrounding area is active farm land.  They say that they try to get the freshest ingredients locally and do the farm to table concept.  It certainly shows on the outside of the location that they do in fact have a farm to table operation.  When you finally get inside you see the brewing operations immediately to the left and their beer for sale in cans and mini kegs to go to your right.   Straight ahead you see the pub and butchery counters.  We sat down and we were greeted in your typical southern hospitality, the staff there was outstanding!  Honestly we were a tough crowd to please that day, some family we were with decided to have a bit of a meltdown in the middle of lunch and caused a small scene, but the staff did not flinch and continued to have a smile on their face and delivered excellent customer service.

The food! Oh my, the food!  Of course, they featured German style foods featuring a children’s menu, and a variety of fresh foods.  I had an appetizer of Sweet Potato Liverwurst on toast that was outstanding! Now, I know what your thinking, “gross” right?  I get it Liverwurst is not for everyone, but I have always been a fan, so I even picked up some to bring home to Maine and it thankfully made the trip back home!  Next was my main dish, which was a brat sampler, it featured several different styles that were all delicious!  What can I say, I did not leave there with an empty stomach that was for sure!

Now, the reason you read my reviews to begin with, Beer!! The beer was spectacular! Very refreshing and most were on the lighter side.  Defiantly catering to the beach going crowd for sure.  Which is great, I love those refreshing beers in the summer.  They naturally featured German Styles for beer, my favorites from them had to be the OBX Shandy Kolsch (Spring Summer Seasonal) and the OBX Kolsch (Year-Round).  We enjoyed the beer so much, that my wife, my mother in-law and I grabbed three cases of 16-ounce cans to bring back north to Maine!  Once it was home, it all barley lasted a month!  All the beer we tried we enjoyed; I honestly did not have one that was bad.

If you are down in the Outer Banks North Carolina, this brewery is a must stop!  With great beer, great food, and great service you really cannot go wrong!  Now this may not be the longest review I have done, but my experience was clear, simple, and great.  No need to put any “fluff” in there with this one!   I have, as always, put the contact info, address, website and phone number provided by their website and Google down below. So go check them out, go have an adventure and try new things!! Please Drink Responsibly.  I also put a list of beers I tried while I was there, enjoy!
